When it comes to content subscription platforms, the biggest hurdle is turning casual fans into paying subscribers. Getting people to part with their cash for content can be a challenge, especially if it’s their first time. However, once they’ve subscribed, it’s important to hang onto them for as long as possible, as it’s easier to persuade someone who is already subscribed to stay subbed, than it is to get a new person on board. Here are some strategies you can apply to retain your fans:
Strategies to Retain Your Fans
The key to longevity is in both the content and the interaction you have with your fans. Keeping your fans they’ll keep coming back the following month.
Exclusive Content
One of the most important strategies to retain your fans. As a rule, the mean reason fans subscribe in the first place is to see content that isn’t available anywhere else. If you’re only posting the same content that’s available on your Twitter or Instagram feed, there’s no reason for anyone to spend their money, however if fans are safe in the knowledge that their subscription earns them exclusive content that no one else gets to see outside of the platform, then they can justify their spending.
Interact with your fans
Super important! Many of them (or all of them) are looking to feel not only important but also noticed and remembered. If you find it too time-consuming to individually chat with all of your subscribers all the time, why not send Private Messages from time to time using the bulk message feature? This can be very helpful as you can send the same message to all the fans in one single click.
Reply to their comments on posts or reply to the messages they sent. Obviously, it can be time-consuming to interact with everyone on a one-to-one level every day, but the more noticed your subscribers feel the more likely they are to stay subscribed over time!
Gift special content via PMs to your fans
Try to give them something extra exclusive for free at least once a month. You can also use the bulk message feature for this if you want to send it to all your subscribers.
Before a Fan’s subscription expires…
…make sure that you keep in touch with them! It’s the perfect time to send them some unique content and encourage them to keep subscribed (for instance, let them know that next week you’re doing an exclusive live stream only for subscribers, or even tease an upcoming piece of content that they’ll need to stay subbed for).
Consider your fans’ opinions when creating content.
Of course, you know what’s best for your page, but listening to their thoughts, and keeping an eye on the types of content that sells best or what performs the best is key to keeping your fans happy.
Post Frequently
Fans will not stay subscribed to profiles that only post once a week. Make sure to post regularly and give your fans regular updates to keep them engaged, we recommend posting at least 4 times a week, you can use the scheduler feature to make this easier.
Don’t overload with paid content!
This is super important, as fans won’t want to subscribe to a profile where they have to pay for almost every single post, instead try to mix it up a little bit. We recommend no more than 1-2 paid posts for every 20 posts for subscribers. This way fans know they’re getting their money’s worth, but also have the option to spend more if they choose to.
